Introduction

EMS Photo Adventures is collaborating with a very special organization, Kenya Cultural Safari, whose owner, Leah Mitula, has been involved in supporting the education of Kenyan children for the past 20 years. Her labor of love with Kenyan children is even more significant in a country where education is not freely provided by the government. For every participant in a Kenya Cultural Safari, Mitula’s foundations pays for the cost of one child’s education for one school year.

We realize, an “African safari” bucket-list item is all about photographing wildlife. So, we have designed a program that maximizes this type of opportunity.  A program designed for photographers by photographers with the following in mind, to:

  • Maximize photographic opportunities and limit time wasted with travel and transfers.
  • Give you a well-rounded, photographic experiences involving both wildlife and culture.
  • Help you raise your photographic skills to the next level and return home with fantastic memories.

Overview

The adventure begins with an evening arrival a Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi, Kenya, where you will be met and transported to the Ole Sereni Hotel (the only hotel bordering a national game park) If you arrive earlier in the day, you may view animals at the waterhole in the bordering national game park, or restaurants relax by the swimming pool.

Early the following morning, Day 2, you will take a short flight to Amboseli National Park that resides at the base of Kilimanjaro and be transported to the Ol Tukai Lodge. You will be assigned your own well appointed, private chalet separate from the beautiful Lodge where you will dine and relax. That afternoon you will experience your first of four game drives scouting for elephants, impala, hippos, Maasai giraffe, zebra and wildebeest and some of the most unique and largest birds in Africa – Secretary Bird, Crowned Crane and Bustard. That evening the group will enjoy a “Welcome Dinner” where your leaders will outline the days ahead.

During the next few days in Amboseli, you will participate in three additional game drives, and have a learning session with Essdras M Suarez and an “Introduction to Photographing Wildlife.”

On Day 4, you will fly to the Maasai Mara National Reserve to spend the afternoon and three days experiencing a total of seven game drives in one of the premier, nature preserves in the world (with over 450 animal and 470 bird species) during one Mother Nature’s biggest annual spectacles: The “Big Migration,” where more than a million wildebeests move through the African savannah.

In addition to the Wildebeest, always accompanied by Zebra, the Maasai Mara offers you a chance photograph four of the Big Five (elephants, water buffalo, lions and rhinos), cheetahs, giraffes, hippos, hyena, and so many more species

Also, you will have an opportunity to view all from this from the air by selecting to participate in the Balloon Ride and Bush Breakfast, which is optional at an extra cost. This will be followed by a visit to a Maasai Village and photo sharing session to round out the experience and an opportunity for great learning.

You will return from your busy day to your very own comfy and cozy Deluxe Tent at the Kenya Safari Lodge (Sarova Mara) with all the amenities including free Wi-Fi.

Day 8 sees us on a return fight to Nariobi.

After arriving, we will then visit two unique, animal rescue and regeneration centers for endangered animal species: The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Elephant Nursery, the most successful orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in the world, and the world-famous nature education center, the Rothchild Giraffe Rescue and Regeneration Center. Later that evening, we will conclude our adventure with our Farewell Dinner.

Day 9 we fly home.
